Abduction

The following is Swamp's vivid flashback after eating a Fruit of Remembrance.
VOD

It’s warm. The harsh sun filters through the impossibly tall treetops and dance across the exposed forest floor lined with thick bracken, twisted roots, and vines. You cling to your father’s back, side-by-side with your other half, your twin, chittering and trilling at one another as your noble steed travels on all fours down the jungle path.

You all stop at a pond, one rich with unmoving strange and squishy creatures. Your father scoops up you and your twin to set you on the shore, untying the dish-shaped basket strapped to his chest and beginning to harvest the odd tubes.

Mud assaults your senses, but you feel such glee slipping around in it. You bump into your twin, who then takes the opportunity to play-fight and wrestle in the muck until you fight them off and dash into the undergrowth. They give chase but you were always much faster, and soon find yourself isolated in the jungle.

The light through the leaves is gone here, and the rainforest is blanketed in a chilling shade. You slow to a stop, suddenly aware of the danger you could be in, all instincts at such a young age. It’s quiet, and everything is still, but not for very long.

A roar builds in the distance. The louder it becomes, the more the world around you begins the move. The leaves in the trees, to the trunks themselves, and soon, the ground is quaking in fear of the intrusion.

What has just arrived?

You’re terrified. You cry out, you scream, but you are nothing compared to the thunder shaking the world. No amount of covering your ears, hiding beneath shrubbery, or protesting, will quiet the sound.

You don’t know how much time has passed by the time it stops. Everything is still again, and the roar is gone, but this time it’s different. This time, you can hear your people, your clan, and they sound very upset.

Frantic, you dash towards the chatter. Everyone seems very interested in some strange structure perched upon the hill above a cave you know is very important. Your people wield spears, bare their teeth, and you watch from the sidelines as strange dimzard-like creatures exit the structure. You cannot make sense of them.

Through all the chaos, no one notices such a small little dimzard approaching the scene. No one watches as you curiously crawl into a strange bag and chew on everything you find in there. No one hears your cries as the bag is closed, lifted, and taken away.

No one stops these aliens from taking you from your home.
